Abstract
The purpose of this study was to investigate the internalized-externalized problem behaviors in adolescents depending on early maladaptive schemas and problem-solving ability. For this purpose, a questionnaire survey was conducted on 636 students from middle school in Daegu, North Gyeongsang-do, and data were collected through a self?reporting survey. Results of this study, First. as a result of analysis of variance between internalized-externalized problem group and normal group, each problem group showed a significant difference in internalized -externalized problem behavior, all of the maladaptive schemas compared to normal group. Each problem group showed higher negative problem orientation and higher avoidance coping style out of the problem solving abilities compared to normal group. Externalized problem group showed higher impulsive?careless style compared to normal group. Second, maladaptive schemas that have a significant effect on adolescents¡¯ internalized problem behavior were loneliness, mistrust, abuse, vulnerability, and defectiveness schema. Problem-solving abilities that have a significant effect on adolescents¡¯ internalized problem were negative problem orientation, avoidance coping style. On the other hand, maladaptive schemas that have a significant effect on adolescents¡¯ externalized problem behavior were vulnerability and enmeshment schema. The problem-solving ability was impulsive?careless style. Third, negative problem orientation of problem-solving ability partially mediate between vulnerability schemas and internalized problem behaviors, impulsive?careless style of problem solving ability partially mediate between vulnerability scheams and externalized problem behaviors. In conclusion, limitations and suggestion for future study suggested.
